What an exciting month of September for Flower City Lodge No. 689. There is also some sad news to share with the Brethren – Bro. Craig Rideout’s father passed away on Wednesday, September 24th – our thoughts and prayers are with Bro. Rideout and his family.
At our Regular meeting on Thursday, September 11th, we held our regular business, some education (Beyond the Pillars – Chapter 10 – Page 95, The Lecture in the North-East) and Bro. Jarod Leutri presented the NE Angle Lecture and Bro. Nick Ramputty presented the Final Charge of the Entered Apprentice Degree. Excellent work Bros. Leutri and Ramputty.
At our Emergent Meeting, on Thursday, September 25th, we conducted the Entered Apprentice Degree on Mr. Michael Benoit who is now Bro. Benoit – Congratulations. Excellent work by all those in attendance – thank you V.W. Bro. Frank Russell on filling in at the last minute to present the Working tools. Another big thank you to W. Bro. Gabe Spoletini for filling in as Inner Guard and also for doing the apron charge. Prior to closing for the evening, we conducted some further education (Beyond the Pillars – Chapter 10 – Page 94, The Apron).
Between our Regular and Emergent meetings, on Wednesday, September 24th, we challenged for the Toronto West Traveling Gavel held by West Gate Lodge. Great news – we brought the Traveling Gavel back to Flower City Lodge. A big thank you to W. Bro. Casian Cobniac, Bro. Delroy Sybliss, Bro. Terry Austin, Bro. Stephen Davis, Bro. Peter Rossall, Bro. Nick Ramputty, Bro. Fred Dickson, Bro. Robert Moote, Bro. Ryan Reid, and Bro. Jarod Leutri for attending with me to retrieve the Traveling Gavel.
At our upcoming Regular meeting on Thursday, October 9th, we will be conducting some education, receiving reports, balloting and planning for some social events. Also, Bro. Nick Ramputty will be sitting as Inner Guard, Bro. Jarod Leutri will be sitting as Chaplain, Bro. Ryan Reid as Junior Steward and Bro. Shantanu (Shan) Singh Kumar as Senior Steward. These position changes are for the benefit of the lodge as well as to fill some vacancies due to some of our Brothers work commitments.
At our Emergent Meeting, on Thursday, October 23rd, we will be conducting the Fellowcraft Degree on Bro. Desdune Bernard, some education and practice for our Official Visit on November 13th.
Please let me or the Secretary know if you would like to be advanced to the next degree so we can plan accordingly. If you require any assistance in advancing, please let me know so that we can make it a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
Finally, to our sick and shut-in Brethren, our thoughts and prayers are with you, and please do not hesitate to contact me or any officer of the lodge if we can be of any assistance. If you require a drive to lodge, please let us know and we will make arrangements. I look forward to greeting each of you at our Regular Meeting on October the 9th.
Sincerely and Fraternally – W. Bro. James Leutri
