Message from the East – September 2014

Greetings Brethren,

I would like to welcome everyone back and hope that you and your families had a wonderful and relaxing summer break. We will continue where we left off before the summer break with our excellent teamwork, social activities and education.

I would like to congratulate R.W. Bro. James G. Lawson on being elected as District Deputy Grand Master of Toronto West District. I look forward to supporting our DDGM during the course of his term by attending as many Installations and Official Visits as possible. Brethren, remember that by visiting other lodges in and outside our district is very important in our growth as Masons and showing support.

One other piece of exciting news to the members of Flower City Lodge – at Grand Lodge we were presented with our Cornerstone Lodge designation for 2014 to 2016. Excellent work and congratulations to all the members of Flower City Lodge. This is a great achievement for our lodge. We have 2 years to keep up the work started to maintain our designation. This could not have been possible without the participation of all the members. A special thanks and acknowledgement goes out to W. Bro. Casian Cobniac, V.W. Bro. Steve Ellstrom, Bro. Craig Rideout and Bro. Peter Rossall.

At our upcoming Regular meeting on Thursday, September 11th, we will be conducting an Entered Apprentice Degree on one aspirant. The worksheet were sent out about a month ago. I look forward to seeing the work performed by some of our newest Master Masons. There will be some education at the conclusion of the Entered Apprentice Degree.

At our Emergent Meeting, on Thursday, September 25th, we will be reviewing our plan for the remainder of the Masonic year, discussions on Protocol and Etiquette, and some education.

Between our Regular and Emergent meetings, we will be challenging for the Toronto West Travelling Gavel currently held by West Gate Lodge on Wednesday, September 24th. The other challengers that I am aware of are Ionic Lodge and Mississauga Lodge. Brethren, lets show the District we can take back the Travelling Gavel to Flower City Lodge.

On a personal note of pride, my daughter, Emily, was installed as the Grand Worthy Advisor of the Canadian International Order of the Rainbow for Girls on August 9, 2014. Her motto is “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not. – Dr. Seuss”.

Please let me or the Secretary know if you would like to be advanced to the next degree so we can plan accordingly. If you require any assistance in advancing, please let me know so that we can make it a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Finally, to our sick and shut-in Brethren, our thoughts and prayers are with you, and please do not hesitate to contact me or any officer of the lodge if we can be of any assistance. If you require a drive to lodge, please let us know and we will make arrangements. I look forward to greeting each of you at our Regular Meeting on September the 11th.

Sincerely and Fraternally – W. Bro. James Leutri
