Flower City Lodge No. 689

Message from the East – May 2014

Fraternal Greetings Brethren!

On Thursday, April 10th, we held our Annual elections. Congratulations to all the officers elected. I would like to thank the members on once again electing me to the chair of Worshipful Master. I am honoured to serve Flower City Lodge No. 689 for another year. We will continue to grow as a lodge and expand our current programs – mentorship, social activities, and education. I would also like to thank W. Bro. Brett Kahler on agreeing to be my Installing Master.

At our Emergent meeting on Thursday, April 24th, we conducted the 3rd degree on Bro. Peter McCullough and Bro. Shantanu (Shan) Singh Kumar. The officers from step-up night once again reprised the chairs they occupied on March 27th in another opportunity to shine. Congratulations to Bro. McCullough and Bro. Kumar – 2 excellent candidates for the 3rd degree. Job well done. I would also like to congratulate Bro. Nick Ramputty on an excellent job on his ritual work as it was his first time doing this particular part. Thank you to the members who stepped in at the last minute.

Bro. Craig Rideout, our Cornerstone chairman, reported to the lodge that we have completed the requirements to achieve Cornerstone designation. I would like to congratulate and thank all members of Flower City Lodge No. 689 on helping make this happen. We make an excellent team by working together. A special thank you to W. Bro. Casian Cobniac on starting our lodge on the path to this milestone! We will continue to maintain this designation by continuing with our programs we have in place, starting some new programs and enhancing other (Rusty Mason night, Mentoring, Social Activities, Visitations, etc.)

At our Emergent meeting on Thursday, May 8th, we will be having our Open House and Friend to Friend evening. We will have presentations from Mississauga Chapter of the Order of DeMolay, Primrose Assembly No. 8 of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, Order of the Eastern Star, Order of the Amaranth plus a special friend to friend presentation from four of our brothers. All are invited to attend (family, friends, and children). We expect to have a number of our prospective applicant attending this event.

At our Regular meeting on Thursday, May 22nd, we will be holding our Annual Installation and Investitures of the Officers of flower City Lodge No. 689. There will be a banquet prior to the Installation commencing at 6:30pm.

I look forward to greeting each of you at our Emergent Meeting on May the 8th and our Regular/Installation Meeting on May the 22nd.

Plans are underway by our Social Committee headed up by our Junior Warder, Bro. Terry Austin, for our Regular Meeting in June for a barbeque after we have completed our business.

Please let me or the Secretary know if you would like to be advanced to the next degree so we can plan accordingly. If you require any assistance in advancing, please let me know so that we can make it a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Finally, to our sick and shut-in Brethren, our thoughts and prayers are with you, and please do not hesitate to contact me or any officer of the lodge if we can be of any assistance. If you require a drive to lodge, please let us know and we will make arrangements.

Sincerely and Fraternally,
W. Bro. James Leutri
